What is Delta 8?

So, you’ve heard about Delta 8. You’ve heard it’s the new hot cannabinoid that delivers a psychedelic effect. Still, you’re unsure how to take advantage of it. I’m here to help.

First off, let’s look at what Delta 8 is and how it works. Delta 8 is a cannabinoid (found in hemp and marijuana) that is federally legal when extracted from hemp plants (cannabis sativa L.) containing less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.

Delta 8 is a cannabinoid like CBD and is similar to THC. It’s like the middle child, a perfectly balanced cannabinoid chemical concoction between CBD and THC: It’s not as psychoactive as THC, so it won’t make you feel as high. But unlike THC, Delta 8 also offers many of the positive benefits that CBD has. It interacts with both the CB1 and CB2 receptors in your endocannabinoid system (ECS), which can have a powerful effect on both your body and mind.

What are Delta 8 Sprays?

Delta 8 Sprays

Delta 8 sprays are designed to be absorbed by the mouth rather than smoked or vaped. This is because Delta 8 is a derivative of hemp, containing only trace amounts of THC. While Delta 8 is an intoxicant, it’s not nearly as potent as its cousin THC and isn’t psychoactive enough to get you high.

There are two main types of Delta 8 sprays: those intended for oral consumption and those intended for spraying on hemp flower for increased potency. We’ll focus on the first type here—sprays you can use directly without buying any other products to consume them.

What you Should Consider When Buying a Delta 8 Spray:

Here’s everything you need to look out for when choosing a Delta 8 Spray

You’ve got options, and that’s great! But you also have to be careful.

There are a lot of companies out there working hard to bring you the best Delta 8 possible—but there are also a bunch of scammers and bad actors looking to take advantage of you. That’s why it’s so important to select a brand you can trust.

How do you do that? It’s simple, really. Look for brands that:

Have High-Quality Products with 3rd Party Testing

Ingredients (What Else is it Made With?)

This is the most crucial factor you should consider when looking for a Delta 8 spray. And if you want it in a nutshell: look for the brand’s third-party test results and the accompanying COA.

If you’ve been shopping around for Delta 8 spray, you may have noticed that many brands describe their products as “Delta 8 distillate” mixed with MCT oil. But what is Delta 8 distillate? And why do they add MCT oil? And what’s all this talk about terpenes and hemp extract?

Delta 8 spray products contain a specific combination of ingredients. Some brands add natural terpenes or full-spectrum hemp extract to increase energy or to promote relaxation.

Most Delta 8 sprays contain Delta 8 distillate and MCT oil. If you are looking for a more comprehensive product, you could look out for a product ingredient list that is rich in CBD as well as terpenes and flavanoids. Most brands will market these types of products as full-spectrum hemp extracts, so lookout for a product label with this on it!

And on that note, let’s discuss one of the most important signs of a quality Delta 8 Spray: an easily accessible COA (certificate of analysis).

COA – Certificate of Analysis

With hundreds of Delta 8 brands to choose from, deciding who to go with can be a challenge. Even more so, given that the market has plenty of scammers and bad actors looking to take you for a ride. All the sprays featured in my top five list are genuine and third-party tested.

Always check if a product has a certificate of analysis issued by an independent testing facility.

Here’s Why:

First, by making sure that a third-party independently tests the products for purity and compliance, you know there is no bias involved in the testing.

Second, the website should post links to these test results on every product page (or at least once where you can navigate to the particular product you are interested in) to see for yourself that their products are clean and safe. You can also make sure that the cannabinoid content matches what it says on the label.

Are Transparent About their Extraction Methods

Extracting the relevant compounds is the first step in production (after growing the hemp, obviously). So naturally, it is one of the critical indicators of a product’s quality. I have noticed two main safe extraction methods with Delta 8 products:

If companies are looking for a safe and effective way to extract Delta 8 hemp THC, CO2 extraction is the way to go. All you need to do is combine heat, pressure, and carbon dioxide. There is no risk of residual solvent because excess CO2 evaporates!

Isomerization

This is one of the newer and more exciting ways of ‘extracting’ Delta 8. The demand for Delta 8 products has snowballed, and it’s hard for producers to keep up with it. This means that there’s a lot of competition in the market between stores and producers who sell/produce similar products. Delta 8 is found in small amounts, so you can imagine that manufacturers are looking for new ways to ‘farm’ this cannabinoid. On the other hand, CBD is abundant in hemp and some marijuana strains.

Converting CBD into Delta 8 THC is becoming more and more popular because there isn’t much Delta 8 THC in hemp. Delta 8 producers like latching onto this process because it offers a way to create more Delta 8.

But how safe is it?

Isomerization is considered safe! It is a complex-sounding process that changes the molecular structure of CBD to transform it into a different isomer, Delta 8.

Tell you How Their Hemp is Sourced

I am not particularly fussy about where the hemp comes from but about how much control the company has over the whole process. If the brand is located in Colorado, for example, then it is a clear indication of quality that the hemp is sourced from Colorado as well.

Secondly, organic is always best. Look out for the USDA-certified organic label when considering your options.

Are Willing to Work Closely With Customers if Problems Arise

This can be analyzed by sifting through the customer reviews, especially reviews posted on third-party sites. It’s natural for a brand to get one or two poor reviews- no one and nothing is perfect. The most important thing to analyze is how the company responded to the complaints and what they did to prevent the same problem from occurring again.

If you notice a repeated offense, with no sign of comment or effort from the company to help resolve it, then you should look for a different brand.

How Do Delta 8 Sprays Work?

How Do Delta 8 Sprays Work

Delta 8 is a cannabinoid that interacts with the CB1 receptors in the body and brain, similar to THC. It’s found in smaller amounts in hemp plants, but it can be extracted and concentrated into a more potent form than what’s typically present in hemp. According to the FDA definition of hemp, Delta 9 THC concentrations cannot exceed 0.3%. However, Delta 8 is not considered THC and is therefore not covered by this rule. This means that it’s legal to sell and buy Delta 8 anywhere in the US.

Delta 8 has psychoactive properties like THC, but they are milder overall than those found in Delta 9 THC products. Some people describe it as being like a much more balanced version of THC that has less anxiety and paranoia potential than regular weed or other more potent cannabis products.

Spraying Delta 8 under the tongue is one of the most popular methods of ingestion because it’s fast and easy. Many people report feeling effects within 20 minutes—sometimes even as little as 10! This method gives you control over how much you ingest at a time because you can choose to spray an entire dose or just part of one, depending on your personal preference.

You don’t need to swallow when you’re using a sublingual spray—just get it under your tongue and let it sit there for a while before swallowing any excess product. Swallowing too quickly can degrade the effects by interacting with saliva enzymes, so be sure to keep that Delta 8 goodness in place for a few minutes before swallowing!

The Benefits Include

psychoactive effects without paranoia or panic
increased creativity and a feeling of euphoria
a clear head with no fog or confusion
a relaxed body without feeling sluggish or tired
higher pain tolerance and reduced pain perception

Here’s the Scoop on How to Get the Most out of Your Delta 8 spray

Take it sublingually. You can take it orally, but you’ll lose some potency that way, so we recommend putting it under your tongue.
Store it in a cool place.
Be careful with higher dosage sprays! The effects are strong and fast!

Why Should you Choose a Delta 8 Spray Versus other Types of Products?

They Work Fast

Because it’s a mist rather than oil, the effects are felt more quickly, and it may be easier to dose than other forms of Delta 8 like tinctures or vape juice. If you’re brand new to Delta 8 or want to start out with a low dose, this is a great way to ease into it.

If you want fast relief from medical or recreational marijuana, sublingual sprays can offer you the effects quickly. They’re more efficient than capsules and edibles and less intrusive than smoking. Another advantage: Delta 8 sprays are much safer than smoking or vaping. However, the sprays may still cause side effects—yet, taking them doesn’t put your health at risk. Vaping is safer than smoking, but it’s still not risk-free.

They Work Via Sublingual Ingestion

Because the sprays work via sublingual ingestion, you will feel them much quicker than other types of products!

Sublingual ingestion is the process of consuming a substance by placing it under the tongue and allowing it to be absorbed into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes. It’s been used for hundreds of years and is an incredibly effective way of getting Delta 8 content into your system.

There are several reasons why sublingual ingestion is an effective way to take Delta 8. One of the most important is its speed of absorption. Since Delta 8 bypasses the GI system, it enters your bloodstream directly through the mucous membranes in your mouth. This allows almost instant therapeutic effects.

In addition to speed, sublingual absorption also offers more precise dosing than other methods like smoking or eating edibles. When you smoke hemp flower, it’s difficult to know exactly how much Delta 8 you’re taking in because it can vary depending on how long you hold in each hit and how many hits you take. Sublingual sprays measure how much Delta 8 you’re ingesting precisely, which is a key benefit when dosing according to your individual needs.

They are Versatile

Sure, spraying under the tongue may seem the most obvious (and popular) method, but Delta 8 is quite versatile! You can also add Delta 8 drops to your favorite foods and beverages for a longer-lasting high. Or, you can take things one step further and apply Delta 8 drops directly on the skin for targeted pain relief.

Many prefer this method because they don’t have to worry about carrying around a bottle of oil or any other paraphernalia for vaping. Your bottle of Delta 8 spray fits in your pocket or purse and can be used discreetly almost anywhere—no one will know the difference between you taking a quick spritz of breath freshener and a shot of Delta 8. If discretion is your concern, then Delta 8 spray is the way to go. No one will be the wiser, and you can indulge to your heart’s content.

Delta 8 sprays are versatile, convenient, and highly effective, making them perfect for on-the-go use.

How to Use Delta 8 Sprays

To use a Delta 8 spray, hold it under your tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing. This allows a high concentration of Delta 8 to absorb into your bloodstream quickly and effectively.

You can also spray it onto your tongue directly, but this won’t work. The mucous membranes in your mouth are very absorbent, so spraying a small amount of liquid on the underside of your tongue is so effective.

The Bottom Line

Always remember to do your research before you order anything! This is especially true when it comes to CBD products. You don’t want to just go with the first thing that you see, because you never know what it’ll do to you. Just use this list as a guideline and a resource to help narrow down your search – so long as you keep a close eye on the other details. You’ll have to work out the best option for you in the end. It all depends on your desires and budget. But make sure you don’t sacrifice quality for price. If you’re skimping on costs, you may also be sacrificing effects and introducing health risks!

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Who Should Use Delta 8 Sprays?

Answer: Delta 8 sprays are great for users who:

Want to avoid taking psychoactive substances by smoking or vaping them

Have trouble swallowing capsules

Have trouble using tinctures (typically placed under the tongue)

Question: What’s the difference between Delta 8 and THC (Delta 9)?

Answer: Delta 8 distillate is a form of THC derived from hemp that has recently become popular among consumers because it is federally legal (thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill). Delta 8 THC has a similar structure to Delta 9 THC (the kind of THC found in marijuana), but Delta 8 only binds slightly to CB1 receptors in the brain. This makes it easier for consumers to enjoy the benefits of THC without feeling excessively high.

Compared to Delta 9 THC (the kind most people are familiar with), we believe that Delta 8 is easier to use safely and delivers more consistent results. Delta 9 strains can cause panic or paranoia in some users, which is not the case with Delta 8. Also, unlike other cannabinoids like CBD, Delta 8 causes psychoactive effects without making you feel “high” or “stoned” like typical marijuana does.

Question: Are there any Side Effects from Delta 8?

Answer: We love Delta 8 just as much as the next guy, but we’ve heard some concerns about whether it’s bad for you. We get it! You want to be safe when you’re trying something new, and you don’t want to take a product that could seriously harm your health.

The good news is that, when used responsibly, Delta 8 is not dangerous at all!

Research has found that Delta 8 can cause some psychoactive and intoxicating feelings in a similar way that THC does. Some reports indicate side effects of slight hallucinations and nausea.

But, those studies analyzed the use of high doses of the drug. While they may produce negative symptoms like the ones mentioned above, these symptoms are probably due to an overdose rather than anything inherently harmful about the drug itself.

If you’re interested in trying these products out for yourself, we recommend starting with a low dose and working your way up until you find a dosage level that feels comfortable for you.
